Sinner ousts Djokovic in the Australian Open semi-finals!
What a thrill! Jannik Sinner put an end to Novak Djokovic's run of 33 consecutive wins at the Australian Open. The score, 6/1, 6/2, 6/7(6), 6/3 in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Building on the momentum of his previous rounds, the Italian, once again super good, outclassed the world No.1 in the first 2 sets (6/1, 6/2 in 1 hour and 13 minutes). He then held his nerve as the battle intensified. As for the Serb, he has been far too inconsistent to really compete.
Sinner could even have wrapped up the match in 3 sets, as he had a match point in the tie-break of the 3rd act. But the world no. 4 was unaffected by the loss of this 3rd set, the first he's let slip since the beginning of the tournament.
The 22-year-old Italian will now play in his very first Grand Slam final on Sunday. He will face the winner of the clash between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev to come in Night Session.
